Helena

Human, Social, and Political Sciences

Hi! I’m Helena and I just graduated in Human, Social and Political Sciences from Jesus College, University of Cambridge. In my second-year examinations, I achieved a First Class and was awarded both the Jesus College Scholarship and the College Prize for top HSPS results. In my final year, I continued to perform strongly, achieving an First Class Second Class while specialising in Political Philosophy, African Politics, and Anthropology.

Outside of my academic work, I’ve been involved in a range of research and advocacy projects. I worked as a research assistant for Professor Véronique Mottier, contributing to a forthcoming book on the history of sexuality, and have interned at NGOs in Poland, London, and the Western Balkans, focusing on reproductive rights, youth outreach, and gender equality. I also co-founded a student-led language access initiative in France, for which I was awarded a national civic prize.

At Cambridge, I’m passionate about feminist organising and human rights. I served as the President of both the Cambridge University Amnesty International group and the Phoenix Collective, a feminist society I founded. I also host a podcast with the Women’s Campaign, platforming feminist voices and conversations every fortnight.

I speak English, French and Polish fluently, coming from Strasbourg, France where I completed my secondary education before coming to the UK to study at Cambridge.

Alex

Law

Hi! I’m Alex, and I recently finished my undergraduate degree in law at Keble College, Oxford. In my degree, I obtained a first in my Moderations and was awarded a scholarship by Keble; I’ve also published on tort law in the undergraduate law journal. I’m a keen sportsperson, spending most summer weekends on the cricket pitch and trying to balance a range of other sports during the rest of my time.

I’ve been tutoring since I was studying for my A-levels and over time have worked with students of varying ages. I have taught pupils as young as 7 as well as pupils preparing for GCSEs in English, Maths and History. Since starting at Oxford, I have tutored university admissions, including a year working for Wellington College as an independent tutor advising on law admissions, where I successfully helped some pupils obtain Oxbridge offers. I am comfortable teaching all of the above subjects to GCSE level on top of teaching RS and philosophy.

My first exposure to private tutoring was as a pupil; the greatest value I obtained was in the added interest and excitement I felt for the subjects where I had the opportunity to develop my skills and thinking in greater depth. It is my goal to stimulate such feelings when I tutor. By trying to ensure that pupils grasp fundamental concepts before using these to understand more complex issues, I seek to help them build the confidence to tackle whatever comes their way in a sophisticated manner.

Nikita

History and Spanish

Hi! I’m Nikita (she/her), I hold a degree in History and Spanish from Merton College. I specialised in global and imperial history, modern Latin American literature, and Spanish-English translation. This year, I’ll be returning to Oxford for postgraduate study, focusing on responses to the war on drugs in Mexico.

I’ve been tutoring for six years from GCSE, to A Level, and university admissions, and I teach all abilities. During my time as Merton’s Access and Equalities Representative, I worked closely with students from disadvantaged backgrounds through workshops, seminars and events relating to the Oxbridge admissions process.
My tutoring style is unique and flexible—I take multiple approaches for each student, as no two learn in the same way. My approach is highly adaptive, and tailored to the needs of each. I encourage them to think beyond the bounds set by their school curriculum, to make connections between themes, topics and subjects, to further their intellectual development.

When not studying and teaching, I love cooking and reading, and my favourite genre is Latin American political fiction.

Peter

Chemistry

Hi! I’m Peter, a Masters student Chemistry at Merton College, Oxford. I have achieved Distinctions in all years of study and received prizes and scholarships for both academic and lab performance. During my 4th year, I will be studying fundamental aspects of iron catalysis for applications in organic synthesis.

I have experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Chemistry, as well as preparing candidates for successful interview at Oxford and Cambridge, and I am available to take tutees at any of these stages. I have also volunteered in the Chemistry Department’s Outreach team, running a puzzle-based workshop for Year 12 students to encourage applications to STEM subjects. My approach emphasises understanding, pattern recognition, application and problem-solving, as these are the key areas for success in Chemistry.

Outside of Chemistry, I enjoy playing the drums in a band, as well as college sport and spending time with friends.

Harley

Law

Hi, I’m Harley (he/they), a recent graduate of law at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. My top interests based on what I’ve read throughout my degree include Human Rights, International Law, Family and Crime. Beyond my studies I was President of the Junior Combination Room Committee, and heavily involved in various access and outreach initiatives.

I have three years experience of teaching, mentoring, and tutoring for prospective applicants to Oxbridge by way of my involvement in various summer school programme, as well as coaching for the application process given my close involvement with the Admissions department as an Ambassador. As for the subjects I enjoy teaching, this spans English Literature, Religious Studies, Sociology, and of course Law. When it comes to delivering a tutorial, I prefer to adapt to the specific needs of the student balanced with encouraging them to excel their knowledge and ability beyond the fixed curriculum, and find their niche!

Guy

French and German

Hi! I’m Guy (he/him), and I hold a degree in French and German from the University of Oxford. While
at Oxford, I was awarded a Casberd Scholarship by St John’s College for academic excellence as well
as the LIDL prize for best performance in German preliminary examinations across the university.
Tutoring has been part of my educational journey for the last six years! In that time, I have helped
numerous students in French and German both as part of their GCSE and A-Level curriculum but also
as part of their applications to university. I currently welcome students of all abilities interested in
these languages and their literatures.
Aside from traditional one-to-one tutoring, I have also taught translation through my work with an
online educational charity in Africa and have also taught English as a foreign language to children
abroad. This diversity of experience has led me to develop a student-tailored approaching with
tutoring. Studying modern languages at any level opens up a rich and exciting world of intellectual
possibilities – something which I really try to emphasize in my tutoring! In the past, I have been able
to work with my tutees to develop a programme which both matches their interests and supports
them in their educational development. Past tutoring discussions have included sport, art history,
absurdist literature, linguistics, and much more!
Modern languages are often seen as an elitist or superfluous subject in the UK. I hope that through
tutoring I can demonstrate that modern languages are a vital and accessible subject for all.

Rakkhi

Economics and Management

Hi! I’m Raakhi, I have just graduated from Hertford College with a degree in Economics and Management. I loved my degree and specialised in microeconomics, public economics, and environmental economics, earning a scholarship in my first year. Aside from work, I love hiking (I live near the Peak District and so am lucky enough to have some excellent views near me!), cooking, dancing, reading, and lots of genres of music.

In terms of my tutoring experience, I started tutoring during COVID-19, reading with primary school students to try and ensure their literacy wasn’t affected – since then, I have tutored from 11+ through to university admissions, focusing in particular on GCSE & A-Level Maths, Economics, Chemistry, as well as the TSA admissions test.

During my education, learning hasn’t always come easily to me, so although I have been able to achieve top grades, I completely understand the struggle it can take to get them. It’s this experience that makes me a little different as a tutor. I am well accustomed to breaking down information in ways that make it more digestible and thinking about concepts in unique, creative ways that allow for understanding as opposed to just memorisation. Hence, I approach every lesson differently, depending on the student in front of me and aim to target their specific needs, weaknesses, and learning styles. I tend to use methods such as concept mapping to ensure that students draw links across topics, allowing them to gain a fuller understanding, and problem-based learning which roots the principles they are being taught in real-world situations, hence further encouraging them to understand the underlying principles rather than following memorised procedures.

I also have a lot of experience working with children, from being involved with the mentoring charity Manchester Young Minds to being a student ambassador for Young Enterprise, which involved active outreach and supporting high school children in determining the direction of their career journeys. Therefore, I am well equipped to tailor sessions and communicate clearly and engagingly across all ages

Matthew

Geography

Hi! I’m Matthew and I hold a First Class BA Geography degree from Brasenose College at the University of Oxford. My main subject focus is Climate Science and my dissertation focused on drought in the Amazon rainforest in future climate. I have also studied a broad range of human and physical geography topics throughout my degree, and later this year I will be studying a Master’s degree in Applied Meteorology at the University of Reading. Beyond academic work, I took part in the Oxford Climate Society and was responsible for organising entertainment events for the students at my college.

I have been tutoring for almost 2 and a half years, working with many students of a wide range of abilities and for GCSE, A-Level and University Admissions. At A-Level I tutor Geography and Biology and at GCSE I tutor Geography, Biology and Maths. I have worked online mostly with agencies and privately arranged tuition, and in 2024 I taught in person at Wells Cathedral School for an A-Level revision camp. My tutoring approach is focused on navigating concepts and topics that students need the most support with and ensuring understanding is secure through regular refreshing of content covered as new content is delivered. Lesson tasks are varied to keep it interesting and engaging, and I am acutely aware of the need to be flexible with lesson structure and approach to help individual learners learn best. I have extensive experience in supporting students with exam technique and essay writing with many very good reviews from parents and students, who express their increased enjoyment for the subject at hand after lessons.

In my spare time, I enjoy indie music events, running and love reading about classical history!

Joe

History

Hi! I’m Joe (he/him), and I graduated with a First Class BA in History from Merton College, Oxford. During my time at university, I have earned 10 academic prizes/scholarships. These include prizes for my exam results (placing 3rd in my year), college scholarships, and four separate essay prizes. Outside of my academic commitments, I took on further positions of responsibility in my college’s student executive committee and boat club. In my free time, I kept myself occupied working as a radio producer.

I have 1000+ hours experience in tutoring in History, Politics and Spanish; primarily at A-Level and University Admissions level. As for formal teaching experience, I have worked as an English teacher in two state schools, and spent a year as an ESL teacher in Spain. For the last three years, I’ve also spearheaded an Oxbridge access and outreach organisation, producing freely accessible guides, running interactive workshops, and delivering talks to local state schools.

My experience in the classroom brings a unique edge to my tutorial approach. I prioritise active participation, translating the fast-paced dynamic of in-school teaching to my online lessons. In my private tutoring, I always pair this interactive approach with an emphasis on academic excellence. In my university admissions tutoring, for instance, I have witnessed multiple offer-securing candidates thrive working with my pop-up interviews, hot-seat debates, and writing peer reviews. The success I have seen in my approach is a testament to the benefits of short-activity based teaching.

When studying at sixth-form I had no desire to apply to university. The journey I have embarked on since should serve as an encouraging reminder to all prospective clients that it is never late to consider aiming high. I currently welcome students interested in tuition in History, Politics, and Spanish.

Daragh

Economics

Hi! I’m Daragh, a recent graduate of Cambridge University, where I earned a First Class BA in Land Economy, placing 6th in my cohort. I was awarded the Cambridge Clothworkers Scholarship and the Fitzwilliam College Prize for academic excellence.

Over the past six years, I’ve tutored a wide range of students across A-Level subjects including Economics, Politics, English, and Maths, as well as university admissions support and music theory. I’ve helped students secure places at top universities through personal statement guidance, mock Oxbridge interviews, and subject-specific coaching. I specialise in breaking down complex ideas – whether that’s explaining land tax theory or demystifying Section A of the TSA – using analogies, real-world examples, and interactive questioning.

My teaching style is structured but adaptive. I prioritise clarity, confidence-building, and active learning – often using quick-fire quizzes, past paper walkthroughs, and student-led explanations to build retention and independence. My background as a ski instructor and tour guide means I’m used to adjusting my tone and teaching method for different audiences, making sessions engaging and accessible for students with varied confidence levels and learning needs.

Originally from Ireland but raised in France, I’m fluent in French and have worked across Europe. I’ve always balanced academics with extracurriculars – I rowed and played rugby at university, and still play guitar in my spare time. I currently welcome students in Land Economy, Economics, Politics, English, and university admissions.

Arianna

French and Spanish

Hi! I’m Arianna and I am currently studying French and Spanish at St John’s College, University of Cambridge. In my first-year examinations, I obtained a 1st in both French and Spanish. In particular, in the French exam I scored the 5th highest mark in the University and was awarded the McAulay Scholarship and the Wright Prize for my results. I have just completed my second year examinations in which I also achieved a 1st class and placed 9th in the university.

I have been tutoring students over the past few years, particularly in Italian, Spanish and French. My sessions typically focus on improving language skills as well as confidence. Equally, I have previously tutored students for the MML Admissions process, guiding them through writing personal statements and interview prep. I always aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. On a personal level, I would also say that I am a driven and cheerful student which allows me to create productive sessions that are genuinely enjoyable.

In my degree, I have specialised in French literature from the 15th to 17th centuries, as well as European cinema. My passion for language learning led me to also study beginners Catalan this year. Aside from these interests, I love running, travelling and reading.

Fionn

English

Hi! I’m Fionn. I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2021 with a First-Class BA in English, where I was awarded the Bloomsbury Prize in English and a Robinson College Titular Scholarship for academic excellence. More recently, I completed a multi-disciplinary MPhil in Identities and Cultures of Europe at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with distinction.

I have over five years’ experience tutoring English across a wide range of curricula, including GCSE and A Level Literature and Language (AQA, Edexcel, OCR and CCEA), 7+ and 11+ entrance exams, and Oxbridge admissions preparation. I tutor all abilities and have a strong track record of helping students improve their grades by at least two levels within a few months.

My lesson format is flexible and tailored to each student’s needs and interests. I incorporate dynamic starter activities, collaborative discussion, and longer-form essay practice to develop both critical thinking and written expression. I strongly believe that boosting a student’s confidence is key to improving both literary understanding and essay quality: higher grades and greater confidence tend to go hand in hand.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy running, outdoor swimming, and reading widely across fiction and literary criticism. My aim is to nurture curiosity, skill, and imagination in English, making every lesson enjoyable, engaging, and enriching.

Isabella

Classics

Hi, I’m Isabella, a recent graduate of Trinity College, Oxford, where I received a double First in Classics. I was awarded the Blakiston scholarship and received academic prizes from my college every year of my degree. I’ve been tutoring students over the last few years across all kinds of levels – I’m very familiar with the 11+ admissions process, as well as tutoring various GCSE subjects,  A-Level English, Latin and Greek and Oxbridge Applications. I have also prepared a number of Oxbridge Applicants, who have all so far been successful! I offer personal statement advice, mock interviews and commentary masterclasses.I spent two terms working full time in a West London Secondary School in 2024 where I taught everything from times tables to English A level. I tutored pupils of all ages in one-to-one sessions, held larger revision classes and supported in classrooms. This means I am very familiar with many GCSE and A Level specifications and set-texts. Sitting in on so many classroom lessons gave me experience of a wide-range of teaching styles, which I can now adapt for individual pupils. I spent a lot of time working with SEN and ESL pupils – I’m really passionate about supporting and advocating for neurodiverse students.

Freddie

Engineering

Hi! I’m Freddie (he/him), and I am currently studying Engineering Science at Balliol College, Oxford. My first-year examination grades topped the cohort, and I scored 5th highest in the year with my second-year examinations, earning me the Lubbock scholarship. I have also achieved a score of 45 in the IB and ranked in the top 50 nationally in the second rounds of the British Maths Olympiad and British Physics Olympiad. Outside of academics, I am a keen sportsman, playing cricket, football, and rugby.

I have experience tutoring maths and science to students of all abilities across many age groups, from GCSEs to university admissions. I have also worked with the university’s engineering outreach team to design and produce educational kits, focusing on breaking down scientific and mathematical concepts through the means of a toy race car, and explaining them to GCSE students. I enjoy focusing on the underlying ideas behind problems to build up deeper understandings and form connections between topic areas. Everyone learns differently, and therefore I am happy to adapt lessons to individual styles, whether that means focusing on visual aids or more formal proofs.

In my free time, I love solving cryptic crosswords, playing chess, or being part of sports teams. I’m enthusiastic, approachable, and committed to building both confidence and skills in everyone I tutor!

Tania

History

Hi, I’m Tania! I graduated from Oxford in 2022 and have been teaching in schools since then. I have experience teaching KS3, iGCSE, and A-Level. My class sizes have ranged from 1 (!) to 23, so I’ve worked with all kinds of lovely students.
I am very patient and receptive: I adapt to each young person’s learning style. Importantly, the History/Politics I teach is always well-informed: I don’t just rely on the textbook!

I genuinely enjoy working with students one-on-one. My sessions explore content either broadly or in-depth, and personalised coverage of exam techniques and skills. I believe in a focused approach—prioritising quality over quantity—so you can make the most of each session without feeling overwhelmed trying to cover everything at once.

I really enjoy delivering unique, fun, and inspiring lessons—and most importantly, I have a genuine love for my subjects.

And many more…
